Unlocking the Secrets of the Bread & Beast Cave

Bread & Beast mode on. This spot in Wan Chai’s heritage district has of late transformed into far more than just a sandwich shop. Tourists and locals alike flock here for the decidedly hipster vibe, craft beers, caffeine boost, and live music. ENTERTAINER members can save from HKD65 on a House Beverage up to HKD280 on a Bottle of House Wine.

We go into the “beast cave” to find out more.

Bread & Beast

We’ve all been fooled by one of those boxed sandwiches that are split into triangles to show layers upon layers of lettuce, chicken and tomato. It’s the kind that leaves you starving after just 2 bites because the rest of that so-called sandwich is all bread! Well, those days are gone. Thanks to the passionate sandwich-makers at Bread & Beast.

Every sandwich is methodically constructed in this bakery and butcher-inspired spot in the food hub of Wan Chai. From the crispy toasted baguette to the generous amount of tasty meat fillings and the different types of home-made pickles that complement them, it is one delicious meal that’s truly un-porchetta-ble.

Along with pun-filled sandwiches like the aforementioned porchetta-filled “Un-Porchetta-ble”, and the beef brisket-filled “Ngau Lam Wich” (their take on HK’s ngau lam meen – beef brisket noodles), their Lennon fries are also to die for. Crispy fries are drizzled with okonomiyaki sauce, kewpie mayo and topped with bonito flakes, nori and a 63-degree egg. We couldn’t say “yum” fast enough!
