5 Fab Beaches in Phuket

There’s still an inexplicable, “cold and gray” edge to the weather. A nasty virus is making the rounds. Finding motivation is taking more effort than usual. The struggle is real! Sounds familiar? If that’s your total vibe right now, we get it. Us, too! Reason why we can’t stop daydreaming about a Phuket beach holiday.

This rainforested, mountainous island in the Andaman Sea has some of Thailand’s best beaches. If all you wanna do is chill and relax, we can’t think of any place better than Phuket right now. To help with a bit more inspiration, we’re placing these beaches on your radar.

Ready, set, go!

Freedom Beach

If you’re willing to work for it, you’ll be richly rewarded. This little slice of heaven (☝?that pic above) is tough to get into… and even tougher getting out of. Hiking up and down steep, tropical growth and a rocky cove with strong waves is required. Inaccessible by vehicles and gated in (which, of course people have managed to cut a hole under), it’s pretty forbidding. But the soft sand, clear waters, picturesque rocks and relative privacy are well worth the effort. There are no cafes or umbrella rentals here. Bring everything you need, but don’t carry too much because you’ll need both hands to clamber through rocks as you depart.

Patong Beach

Phuket’s most famous party beach is not for the faint of heart. But what it lacks in scenic beauty and serenity, it more than makes up for in activities and a lively nightlife. Think banana boats, jet skis, blaring music, and the bright, neon lights of Bangla Road. If you’re a party animal and prefer your beach time to be more socially engaged, this one’s for you.

Bangtao Beach

Such intense blues and fine, golden sand! Stretching over 6 kilometres on the western coast, Bangtao Beach is surprisingly deserted. If you like your beaches a bit more on the peaceful side, this one’s for you.

Kata Noi

This beach is only 700 metres long. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in “private island” charm. The sea here is great for activities such as snorkeling and surfing.

Ya Nui Beach

This beautiful beach just south of Nai Harn features dramatic, rocky outcrops and a view of Koh Keyao Noi island – which is just a short kayak away. If you’re all about capturing wanderlust-inducing Instagram moments, this beach is for you.
