See PMQ

Love architecture? This complex along the slope of Aberdeen Street was a school in the late 19th century and the Hollywood Road Police Married Quarters in 1951 before its redevelopment into the haven for artists, designers and creative enterprises it now is. Grab coffee from Cafe Life and chill on the mezzanine. Take a class in ABC Cooking Studio. Or simply enjoy being ensconced in a heaving hive of creativity. Remember to check the event calendar on their website to catch their fun workshops, events and exhibitions.

Try craft beer

Founded by Ronny Daswani, a self-described “beerista,” this unassuming little shop in Tai Ping Shan has been named the #1 hangout for craft beer lovers in HK for three years in a row. Sheung Wan is craft beer heaven – who knew? Come here for your daily dose of Vitamin C – see example below. Or just chat up Ronny on what’s the must-buy beer-of-the-moment. There’s 250-280 types of beer on the shelves, at any given point. You’re spoilt for choice; you’re welcome.

Dress like a geisha

…because why not? From the creators of homegrown brand DK Aromatherapy come this quirky tea shop. DK Cuppa Tea is not only great if you like organic tea, healthy handmade snacks and desserts; you may also dress like a geisha whilst enjoying all of the above. True story. And there’s more. Ask about their essential oils. If you’re feeling creative, they have samples for you to smell, blend and try.

Eat depurated seafood

What exactly is ‘depuration,’ you might wonder. Simply, it’s the process by which accumulated waste (like sand and – excuse us – feces) is removed from seafood that has been in transit. As much as we Hong Kongers love seafood, believe it or not, Table has HK’s only depuration facility. Speak to Chef / Owner Sandy Keung about it – she’s almost always usually in the restaurant. Depuration essentially detoxifies and rehydrates seafood before cooking, making them safer, sweeter, more tender and simply irresistible.

Lock yourself up in a safe

There’s no mistaking the entrance of this upscale champagne and whisky bar. It’s a giant steel safe. Locked within are 150 prestigious champagnes and over 700 single malt whiskies. The most valuable treasure apparently is a 1946 bottle of Macallan. Go ahead – lock yourself in and enjoy precious libation.
