She’s creative, funny and loves food as much as I do: Jenna Maree-Kipling is my spirit animal. She also happens to take a mean shot of a flat lay and is the brains behind The Social Needia. I mean, is this girl the whole package or what?
A few weeks ago, we sent her off to try The Press Bar & Grill in Sea Point. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to get a sneak peek into the newly re-launched restaurant, as well as find out a little more about Jenna’s blog and vision.
Tell us, Jen – what did you think of the restaurant?
Where, off Sea Point Main Road, can you sit outside in an open-air courtyard and sip on beautifully designed cocktails in the summer sun? The food menu is great, too. I’m a chili popper fanatic, so that was a must for me (off the tapas menu) and the boys ordered some meaty treats from the signature selections. Those gourmet burgers are magical.
Which drink did you choose to have with your Entertainer Cheers offer?
Chad, the manager, suggested the Spicy Mango Daiquiri. Chad was not wrong. The kick of fresh green chili is a refreshing cleanser and the perfect twist on a classic. That cocktail menu is next level! So many amazing choices – I’m not sure how you’re meant to choose. Although, saying that, we did do a round of Lemon Pepper (Gin) Martinis too, because, well, why not?
Now, do tell – how did your blog come about?
The Social Needia started out after my fashion magazine internship rebooted my love for writing and beautiful images. I have a serious case of wanderlust, and travel whenever I get the chance. There’s nothing better than arriving somewhere new and eating something amazing – what an adventure! I also worked on the ground in the restaurant industry for 10 years, so I know a little bit about making food magic. I’m a self proclaimed foodie, albeit a vegetarian foodie. Luckily, my meat-loving partner enjoys experimenting with new places as much as I do, so we always get a good overall feeling of a venue. You can follow #thesocialneediaeats for more!
