Every Christmas the ENTERTAINER office usually does Secret Santa. We buy a gift for one of our unexpecting colleagues (usually a candle or box of chocolates) and we wish them a Merry Christmas. However this year something else caught our attention, so much so that we thought we’d do things a little differently this year.
We came across Harmony House, founded by husband and wife, Lucy Bruce and Gaurav Sinha. British-born Lucy and Indian national Gaurav now live in Dubai but frequently visit Delhi, where Gaurav’s family reside. With Gaurav’s mother, Uma Sinha, and brother, Gautam Sinha the family run project is driven by a passion to give something back to those in need.
Harmony House’s key objectives are simple. To provide a safe, fun, educational and loving environment for children and women living in the slums of Delhi. With many children attending school for only a few hours in the morning, or not at all, Harmony House allows children to break away from their usual surroundings and spend their free time in an enjoyable, stimulating and nurturing environment. They also provide a nutritious breakfast, lunch and evening snack to all, hygiene facilities, medication and social services. Not only this but Harmony House also provide vocational classes for the older children so they can have a better future. Courses include yoga, stitching and a beautician’s course. The objective? To train these children so that when they reach 18 years of age they can gain a respectable job and have enough training and experience to back them up.
With the amazing work Harmony House are doing, we thought it was only right that we gave a little back this year too. So, every single colleague at the ENTERTAINER bought a gift to place under our Christmas tree which will be sent to the children in India. Presents included pens and pencils, colouring books, toiletries, clothes and much much more.
Harmony House is now going from strength to strength and providing children in need with the provisions, opportunities and care that all children deserve and we couldn’t be prouder as a company to support this amazing cause.
So, a huge thank you Harmony House for all that you do. We are completely in awe of you. Thank you for letting us be a part of your amazing journey. We can’t wait to see what the children thought of the gifts!
If you too would like to support this amazing cause then take a look at their website for more details on how you can help.
Merry Christmas everyone!
