We have to admit, if we created a list of account names that we love, Flying Food Ninja would be way up there at the top! We’d like to introduce you to Sally, who has very kindly shared some insight into life in Doha. From her weekend plans, to challenges she faces as a blogger, get to know Qatar a little more through her eyes…
Say hello to Sally…
“What do you like to do to keep busy at the weekends?
I love a good afternoon tea with girlfriends or a Friday Brunch at some of my favourite hotels. Honestly, anything that involves good food and good company.
Name 3 of your favourite spots to take pictures in Doha/Qatar…
I love Qanat Quartier, on the Pearl, and all the beautiful colours of the buildings. Souk Waqif is also extremely photogenic and is an iconic area in Qatar to photograph. If I had to pick my favourite it would be along the Corniche so I can photograph Doha’s spectacular skyline. At night, all the buildings light up into an array of different colours.
What challenges do you face as a blogger in Qatar?
I’d say the biggest challenge is to consistently produce original content that isn’t also being covered by other bloggers. It is such a small city and a lot of the bloggers get invited to the same events and restaurant openings. This does however push you to be more creative with your content and gives you an opportunity to meet other creative individuals.
Which Qatar-based Instagram accounts do you like to follow, and why?
This is a tough one, there are so many really cool Instagram accounts in Qatar – but here are my top 5 (in no particular order!)
1) @polbag – because she makes life as an expat family look so luxurious
2) @clumsychic – makes everything look good, wait till you see her photos
3) @wellnessbyanahi – because for me her Instagram is so empowering and motivational
4) @lesrebellesquad – has a way of making fashion look easy and she gives some really great affordable fashion tips
List 3 of your favourite ENTERTAINER offers, and tell us why you love them so much!
The Noodles and Ribs offer at Elements, Four Seasons is such a great deal. If you go with a friend you end up paying such a small amount for a buffet full of fantastic food. I also like when the ENTERTAINER has the monthly specials that can include promotions like, buy one get one free offers on business lunches. Business lunches are already a good deal, and then to top it off with an ENTERTAINER, well it’s definitely a win-win for me.
Finally, I love that I can use the App for delivery. Sometimes you just don’t want to leave the house to have good food. So, the fact that it can be delivered straight to your couch at a discount is awesome. My favourites? Isla Mexican Kitchen, Megu and Carluccio’s.”
