More Sustainable Seafood, Buy 1 Get 1 Free

Kin Hong Seafood Festival’s second edition is ongoing until month-end September. This seafood sustainability festival is bigger and better this year, not only because there are over 100 brands participating. For the first time restaurants in Macau, Beijing, Shanghai and New York City have also joined. And of course a number of ENTERTAINER merchants have also enlisted. What this means for us, as consumers, is that not only do we get to know more and show our support for sustainability; we also get to share about our heightened awareness.

In our first article, we highlighted places where you can enjoy sustainable dishes buy 1 get 1 free. Here now is a second serving. Enjoy!

Kin Hong Seafood Festival on the ENTERTAINER

Catalunya

This gorgeous restaurant opened in 2013 and firmly remains on foodies’ bucket lists. It’s helmed by Head Chef Josep Casas who was mentored by culinary luminaries such as the legendary Ferran Adria & Nandu Jubany,  renowned as one of the best chefs in Catalan cuisine. The Kin Hong Seafood Festival highlight here is Blini with Ecological Salmon and Truffle Mayonnaise, pictured above. Positively mouthwatering.

DiVino

This sexy wine bar slash restaurant arguably makes the sexiest transition into a nightspot. It’s composed of three areas – a giant open entrance that spills onto the streets, a cozy indoor section with a mix of seats, and an outdoor terrace that’s decked in plants all the way at the back. Perfect spot to people watch and let your hair down.

DiVino Patio

Imagine hanging hams, Sicilian olives, freshly-baked bread, colourful home-made marmalades, handmade pasta, fragrant salami, slices of pecorino and big wheels of Parmesan cheese. A place to rediscover the tradition of Italian grocery from the 1950s, this indoor-outdoor spot in busy Wan Chai is also now a highlight on our sustainable seafood list.

The Grill Room

This eatery in Causeway Bay is an underrated gem. The contemporary industrial interiors are warm and relaxed. Service is friendly. Food at first glance is familiar and dependable. But once it arrives, plated, it’s surprisingly  creative. It’s comfort food elevated into restaurant worthiness.

Fish & Chick

This roadside restaurant overlooks Victoria Harbour in Kennedy Town. The water’s so close, you only have to cross the street. Enjoy authentic UK-style beer battered fish & chips, and do ask about the types of fish available on the day. We encourage you to choose local.

Picada

This Latin fusion restaurant overlooks Lan Kwai Fong. The inviting terrace means you get to enjoy the street vibe below whilst escaping the maddening weekend merrymakers at the same time. This spot is perfect for those who love to seamlessly transition from dining to partying, enjoying great food and fabulous music along the way.

Pololi

We expressed our support for the Kin Hong Seafood Festival at our event in Bremont last month, and one of our special guests was Pololi creator, Steph Kudus. An avid scuba diver, Steph gave a speech on how Pololi is “all about the fish,” which is why it matters to support conversations on sustainability. We couldn’t agree more, which is why HK’s first and original poke bowl remains our firm lunchtime favourite!
