When you’re working long hours, it can be all too easy to go to work and back without appreciating your home ‘hood. Wherever you are on the globe, it’s always good to remember to stop, pause and just take a second to take in the beauty of your current location. Take a leaf from the books of these 5 HK Instagram accounts, that’ll teach you how to fall in love with #HomeKong all over again.

HK Instagram accounts to fall more in love with #HomeKong

@surrealhk

Photographer (and editing whiz) Tommy Fung juxtaposes beautiful Hong Kong scenes with a touch of humor and sci-fi. The account’s only one year old, but it’s exploded in popularity due to its surreal visuals that make you think “What if?!” . Our favorite shot is the levitating Giant Buddha.

@spoonek9

If you want the real, non-airbrushed Hong Kong, this is an account to watch. We don’t know how he does it, but this street photog always manages to shoot captivating characters with captions to match. And don’t sleep on his food photography either. Prior to getting into streetscapes, @spoonek9’s training ground was plates and plates of delicious grub.

@hktramways

This is the official page of Hong Kong’s iconic street trams. Although more than 100 years old, the double deck vehicles are still a popular form of transport due to their affordability and ease of use. On this account you’ll see illustrations, photographs and videos paying homage to our beloved ding ding. Tag #hktramways for a chance to get reposted.

@kyle_yu

Kyle’s first Instagram post was made more than 6 years ago, in January 2012. What first started as a collection of pretty local scenes is now a love letter to Hong Kong’s towering skyscrapers and geometric arrangements. If you love color, this account playfully shows that contrary to popular belief, color is indeed all around us in Hong Kong.

@lielaine

Elaine Li is creeping her way up to a quarter of a million followers for good reason. Her Instagram journey has taken her all over the globe. But it’s notably her amazing rooftop and drone shots of the Fragrant Harbour that really make our jaws drop. Sadly her iconic shots of Hong Kong are sure to dwindle down, as she’s just announced her move to Sydney. We’ll always have Instagram, Elaine.
