Where Pub Grub is Bomb

DB Dining | After a good, few hours exploring Discovery Bay’s North Plaza and experiencing the unexpectedly thrilling EpicLand, we were famished. We then took a short bus ride to D-Deck in search of a meal…

The Brits gave us the Murray House, the English Premier League and the Star Ferry. They also left us street names like Wellington and Gloucester. But one of the most well-loved living British influences in Hong Kong has got to be the pub culture. It has been 20 years since the territory was under British rule, but this pub culture thrives in Discovery Bay’s Irish local, McSorley’s Ale House. While McSorley’s manages to stick to tradition by serving pub favorites like Fish N’ Chips, Bangers & Mash and Beef & Guinness Pie, it has also become a popular choice for families for its kid’s menu and the spacious al fresco dining terrace, staying true to a pub’s role of being the focal point of a community.

Curious about this family-friendly destination, the ENTERTAINER Team went down to DB hotspot D-Deck. We started our pub experience with some cold beers on the wooden bar. Although it’s not part of the typical pub fare, we had to sample McSorley’s famous curries, England’s adopted national dish. With a beer, spirits and cider selection this huge, a large screen to watch major sports events and authentic British food, it’s no surprise that this spot is a local favorite. It certainly became ours after a satisfying meal!
