Weekend Tips: Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexican army against the French forces in the Battle of Puebla, and it is regarded, specially in the US, as a day to celebrate the culture of not only the Puebla area, but the whole of Mexico.

Some will think that Cinco de Mayo has not much in common with Londoners and their lifestyle. But in a city where spring and summer play hard to get, it certainly feels nice to seek the sun somewhere else. Mexican cuisine, with its warm spices, fresh dishes and bright cocktails gives London its warmest hug!

Cafe Pacifico

An almost secret pathway in the depths of Seven Dials will take you to Cafe Pacifico. The venue ticks all the boxes for the ultimate Mexican experience: the decoration is Dia-de-los-Muertos-Chic, the food is almost entirely made from scratch, and boy do they know their tequila. Our suggestion: ask for the full tequila tasting, the house quesadillas and a jar of Margarita!

GOAT Chelsea

GOAT’s usual menu leans towards Italian cuisine, but this weekend Cinco de Mayo is featured in one of their famous cocktail masterclasses. Don your sombrero and bring a notepad to record all the cocktail wisdom! Hopefully you will be able to read it the next day…

Chilli Nachos

If you are more a small venue kind of person, Chili Nachos is the right place for you. Located in trendy Old Street, your night there won’t be lacking food comfort – all locally sourced- or banging cocktails! Best fiesta this side of the Thames!
