Pub O’clock: the ENTERTAINER’s Top Five

As many commuters will testify, the relocation from office to pub around 5.30 is a cherished tradition in our fair city. Indeed quite a bit of smart business can be done there (provided it’s before 8pm, when everyone transforms into beer-battered pumpkins).

The list of London establishments for a cheeky one after work is longer than a yard of ale, so here at the ENTERTAINER, we’ve whittled it down a bit…

The Greenwich Tavern

Sitting pretty in the middle of the Royal Park, this truly handsome pub restaurant provides a classy destination for post-office revelry. As well as fine traditional menus, the Greenwich Tavern boasts an excellent selection of British ales and world wines; all of which can be savoured outside in the London sun (but don’t hold your breath).

The Harcourt

This former W1 watering hole is now sumptuously reincarnated as a Scandinavian restaurant and bar. How very Marylebone. All oak, earthy aromas and open fires, The Harcourt is the place for handcrafted cocktails and traditional Nordic delights. After 8 hours of Excel and PowerPoint, your smorgasbord awaits!

Bar Smith

With exposed brickwork and a cool urban vibe, Bar Smith is an ideal after-the-bell hangout with impressive ranges of cocktail infusions, lively wines and beers. It seems that all the bustle and business of Farringdon is here, distilled under one cosy roof. And when the munchies set in, their pizzas are to die for.

Princess of Wales

Recently renovated, this gorgeous Regency-chic Primrose Hill haunt is a haven for arts and media hipsters, once they’ve downed their i-gadgets and virtual portfolios. But everyone else is welcome too – for memorable cocktails, crafty ales and serious plates of food.

Enjoy it while it’s cold (or room temperature if it’s ale/bitter)! It might be your turn to get the first round, but you know the ENTERTAINER always gets the second! Cheers!
