Game, Set, Cocktails: A Guide To Wimbledon

Wimbledon has started, the weather is glorious, and England are in the semi-finals of the World Cup – can it get any better?

And even though Andy Murray isn’t competing in this year’s Wimbledon, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate! If you’re looking for pre-tennis pints or post-tennis tipples, browse our guide to Wimbledon pubs and bars.

Zebrano

Nothing screams “Wimbledon” more than strawberries and cream. Zebrano has some scrumptious strawberry cocktails like Strawberry Sensation, a Finlandia vodka and strawberry liqueur shook with strawberry and cranberry juice. Poured tall over ice. And Strawberry Daiquiri,

fresh strawberries, Bacardi Carta Blanca rum, strawberry liqueur and lemon juice blended with crushed ice.

For a limited time, you can get strawberries and cream (£4.50), Chambord Spritz (£5) and a jug of Sangria or Pimms (£15). Find Zebrano in Soho, Carnaby Street and City Z.

GOAT Chelsea

Watching Wimbledon without a drink in your hand just won’t do. Visit GOAT in Chelsea, an Italian inspired restaurant with a secret cocktail bar and DJ booth. GOAT has an extensive cocktail menu featuring weird and wonderful combinations. Try their Basil Instinct cocktail: 10 fresh basil leaves shaken with Caorunn gin, lime juice and cardamom. This glistening green cocktail will remind you of the green grass of Wimbledon.

Patara

Patara brings the best of Thai fine dining to the streets of London. Patara’s latest restaurant is situated right in the middle of Wimbledon high street. This large restaurant has a delightful outdoor terrace and casual lunchtime Yum Bar.  Patara Wimbledon brings all the best aspects of Thailand to SW19.

TOP PICK: Try Patara’s Secret Garden cocktail featuring, Tanqueray mixed with strawberry, green apple, fresh mint, orange and finished with lemonade.

The Escapologist

The Escapologist is one of those bars you will never forget, perfect if you’re a tennis tourist looking for post-game drinks with a difference.

Based in the headquarters of a secret society that once ran Victorian London, The Escapologist is a bit like a Victorian men’s club. The focus is on memorable times with great drinks in an outrageous space. Located in the Seven Dials area of Covent Garden, The Escapologist cocktail bar offers twisted classic cocktails and a menu of high-quality pizza.

Sink the Pink is a wine cocktail that’s fruity, fizzy, fresh and light. Made with a mix of lemon, lemongrass-infused Eristoff vodka, lychee liqueur, parma violets, grapefruit soda and Prosecco.

There’s nothing like celebrating a Wimbledon win than with a glass of bubbly.
