Mummy Dearest: Your Mother’s Perfect Day

When spring has sprung, it’s time to treat the real life heroine of the family and say “Thank you, Mum”.

Whether you’re giving big love to Mummy, Mother or Grandma on 26th March, the capital is chockful of spas, bars and eateries touting special stuff, individually designed for Mothering Sunday. Feel free to browse, but at the ENTERTAINER, we’ve done the donkey work and come up with a sure-fire short list.

If mum’s middle name is ‘Pamper’ then lead her down a fluffy towel strewn path to the East. You’ll find Smooth You Town Spa in a quiet corner of sparky Dalston E8. Winner of ‘Best Spa’ at the 2015 London Hair and Beauty awards, you’re in safe and very supple hands. Besides the usual beauty, hair and laser treatments, this halcyon sanctuary also offers a highly recommended mani-pedi and Aroma Lux Massage…and relax.

Have a head for heights? Then lunch at Urban Coterie is possibly the coolest Mother’s Day option in London town (short of diving through the ice at Tooting Lido). Sixteen floors up, this restaurant, lounge and cocktail bar on high, offers peerless views over fashionable Shoreditch as you tuck into elegant plates and sup from the extensive wine list. What better way to say “Ta ma”?

The best things in life are tea, and if mum needs a refreshing stop-off then Amanzi Tea is undoubtedly the best place for a cuppa this side of China. A must around Marylebone, Amanzi Tea offers more than a hundred delicious brews in gloriously elegant surroundings. Mine’s a Lavender Chamomile!

For an unforgettable supper, complete with opulent backdrop, sample Seven Park Place at the St James Hotel and Club in Mayfair. If that sounds exclusive, it is – not just because of the Michelin Star celebrating the magnificent French-leaning cuisine of Head Chef, William Drabble – but with seating for only 23, how could you feel anything less than rather special? Mum’s the word.
