Cape Town’s Best Indian Restaurants

Cape Town’s best Indian restaurants are perfect for the cold, wet, dark winter that has literally swallowed this city. It’s only June, and with very little light at the end of the tunnel, and puffy jackets and tracksuit pants to hide the winter pudge, it’s time to eat all the comfort food in the world.

And, by comfort food, we mean Indian. Because we all know that nothing, (absolutely nothing) keeps you warmer and fuller than a bucket of butter chicken and effloads of naan. And a spot of kulfi to finish it off. Oh, and a cup of masala chai. Okay, okay, we’re officially drooling so we’ll cut to the chase. Here are Cape Town’s best Indian restaurants (that rock even more because they’re on the ENTERTAINER App).

Moksh | Kenilworth, Welgelegen, Worcester, Paarl, Laguna Mall, Somerset West, Durbanville

Yes, we knowww, everyone already knows and loves Moksh for its authentic Indian cuisine and warm hospitality. Reviewers, in fact, rate Moksh as being the best Indian food they’ve had outside of India. Jeepers, guys. Setting the bar high. (Sorry for all the italics but we can’t help emphasising Moksh’s awesomeness).

Inside Lounge | Eden On The Bay

Eden on the Bay doesn’t only have the best views in Cape Town, it also has one of Cape Town’s best Indian restaurants. Inside Lounge offers hearty Indian dishes (bunny chow, get in my bell-ay) and other options for the less-spicy inclined folk. A win-win, if you ask us.

Bollywood Café | Cape Town CBD

Don’t you guys just love a cafeteria-style luncheon? We most certainly do. Grab a tray at Bollywood Café and get a taste of all of your favourite flavours. Just be careful, though: too many good smells + massive tray = food coma. Maybe save this for a weekend feast.

My Favor8 Restaurant | Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel & Spa

Now, we’ll be honest. After a good couple of cocktails, all you need is a large helping of warm comfort food, right?! (You just can’t go to sleep on a belly full of mojitos.) My Favor8 makes it easy for you. They have an insane cocktail menu, and the most incredibly-presented (and delicious-tasting) curries ever. You can literally spend your entire Friday evening here (best kind of Friday).

Nice ‘N Spicy | Claremont

Love the name, love the place. Claremont’s Nice ‘N Spicy is unpretentious and serves delicious homemade Indian chow. Just thinking about it makes our taste buds shiver. And not from the cold, for a change.

The Raj | Camps Bay, Constantia, Harbour Bay

This restaurant is a chain for a reason – it’s just that good. The Raj offers an array of delish Indian and Asian dishes. Each restaurant is beautifully designed. It’s perfect for a fancy girls night out or the perfect date night.

Okay, if you’re not drooling, putting on an extra baggy tracksuit, and heading to your nearest Indian restaurant to fill that tracksuit right now, then are you really human (or are you denser)? JK. But let us know your favourite Indian restaurant in the comments below.
