Our Interview With Photographer And Blogger Hannah Magsayo

Hannah has been on our radar for a while now. Her imaginative use of photography in amazing places across the world have long caught our attention. So, we were delighted when she agreed to answer a few questions for us. Read all about Hannah and her love of all things travel and photography with our interview.

Hi Hannah, tell us a bit about yourself.

Aw, this is a tough question! I love to travel and always go alone. I hope one day I will have the guts to quit my job and become a digital nomad. I always spend my free time reading travel blogs, travel books and magazines. I love photography which I guess explains why I love travelling. I come from The Philippines and although it’s a tropical country I love cold rainy days. You can’t beat wearing a good sweater and drinking hot chocolate!

What made you come to Dubai?

Like most expats the reason I came to Dubai was to improve my career prospects.

What are your tips for new people in Dubai?

  1. Be aware of the dress code and the UAE’s laws.
  2. Take your ID everywhere you go.
  3. Have fun!

What are your favourite attractions in Dubai?

Of course the famous Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab.

You’re clearly an amazing photographer. What are your top photography tips?

Go out, have fun and take some photos. Be creative! Don’t be afraid to break the rules of photography. Also, don’t forget natural light. It’s the most important key element in any photo.

Where are your favourite photography backdrops in Dubai?

Definitely the desert, especially during golden hour.

What photography equipment do you use to achieve your gorgeous shots?

I usually just use my iPhone and my Canon 6D for photos.

We can see you love to travel. Where is your favourite country you’ve visited?

Indonesia. This country holds special memories for me. This trip was a real eye-opener for me. I learnt that it’s ok to be broke when you’re a young adult exploring the world. Also, this is where I had my first couch surfing and hitchhiking experience which was very memorable.

Where is left to visit on your travel bucket list?

Number one on my list is Iceland! Hopefully, I can tick this off my bucket list early next year. Then I’d love to go to Tasmania, Scandinavia, Mongolia, South Africa, Peru, and the list goes on!

We love to follow you on Instagram but who are your favourite people to follow on Instagram?

This is hard as there are so many amazing Instagrammers here in Dubai. But if I had to chose it would be: @conelvanzyl, @tjasha, @traveljunkiedairy, @noreenwasti, @daryllbborja, @maizycolleen @joanna_skladanek, @thehungryfeet@ikeng, and @heraldherrera.

Where do you love to use your ENTERTAINER?

On a desert Safari as it’s a great way to spend time with family or friends when they’re visiting Dubai. It’s also a great opportunity for me to take breathtaking photos. Also, Marble Slab Creamery is my favourite place to visit as they have lotus ice cream which is delicious!

Challenge someone on Instagram you like to follow to be interviewed next by us.

@maizycolleen. I adore her feed! She really is amazing and so creative.

A huge thank you to the incredible Hannah for answering our questions. Make sure you check out her Instagram and blog. If you want to see more interviews with your favourite Dubai personalities then click here!
