Sweet Extravaganza: The London Chocolate Show

To celebrate the grand finale of Chocolate Week, for a full weekend in October, London Olympia was filled with All Things Chocolate: truffles, bars, fudge, brownies and cakes for this year’s Chocolate Show.

The Chocolate Show is the UK’s biggest celebration of chocolate and it pulled out all the stops to celebrate chocolate in all its forms!

One of the most engaging and tantalising parts of the event was the 100 exhibitors showing their chocolate delights ranging from sculptures to baking and free tastings too! The exhibitors were from 10 countries around the world including France, Italy, Japan, Ecuador and the US. Trendsetters and brand new exhibitors at the show include Paxton Chocolates, Smiths: L’Art du Chocolat and J Cocoa, who were joined by household names such as Divine, Laude and The Chocolatier.

The stand out part of the Chocolate Show had to be the Chocolate Fashion Show which hosted awe-inspiring dresses made from chocolate dazzling their way down the world’s tastiest catwalk. Some of the top talent from the UK chocolate industry such as Carmen Rueda-Hernandez, the head pastry chef from The Fat Duck and Mark Tilling, winner of GBBO Crème de la Crème designed the gowns which were good enough to eat.

The Chocolate Show also included competition entries and chocolate demonstrations from top chocolatiers, pastry artists, patissiers and award winning chefs including Delroy Bryan from Smith & Wollensky, Vivek Singh, from Cinnamon Soho, Sarah Barber and Harpreet Baura in The Chocolate Theatre.

As well as these demonstrations, over in The Tasting Room, samplings, talks and pairing sessions took place on everything from bean to bar chocolate, exotic brands and beer matching, in sessions hosted by Cocoa Runners, The International Chocolate Awards and the Academy of Chocolate.

Proving that this was an event for all the family, The Chocolate show also included fantastical Roald Dahl inspired children’s workshops with Rococo, where the little ones could try out Twits Chocolate Beard Making and a Design your Own Chocolate Bar Wrapper competition too.

With an increasing trend for good quality chocolate in the UK, The Chocolate Show demonstrated that there are many layers to this indulgent treat. The spectacular chocolate fashion show, indulgent treats demonstrations from celebrity favourites contributed to a fun filled weekend.
