Brace yourselves… Things are about to get chilly. Yes, that may seem odd considering it’s August!
No matter how long you’ve been in Dubai the summer is always a shock to the system and has us all craving winter time again. With that in mind, I’ve put together a few places you can really freeze yourself in Dubai this summer. Just don’t blame me if you get a cold afterwards!
Chillout Ice Lounge
Wrapped up in cosy clothes, a steaming glass of hot chocolate nestled in your gloved hands and pink rosy cheeks you’ll forget you’re even in Dubai. The Chillout Ice Lounge is the first ice lounge in the Middle East which manages to create a place which is simply awe-inspiring! Enjoy the ice sculptures, ice seating, and a uniquely illuminated interior, all at a subzero temperature.
Al Boom Diving
Things tend to get a little chilly deep in the ocean so why not head to Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort in Fujairah where you’ll learn the basic safety guidelines and skills needed to dive, under the direct supervision of a PADI professional. Practice your new skills in the pool first before making your way to the Ocean where you’ll continue your adventure.
Ski Dubai
If you truly want to escape the desert heat then head to the Mall of the Emirates for a snowy adventure. You can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, or just spend the time making snow angels and drinking cups of warm tea in the Avalanche Cafe. You can also meet and play with Ski Dubai’s newest residents – the Snow Penguins! Then head to Apres to sit by a (pretend!) roaring fire and watch the other skiers slip and slide down the slopes.
Dubai Ice Rink
Whether you’re an ice-skating pro or you’re looking to experience the thrill of ice skating for the first time, Dubai Ice Rink will keep you nice and cool this summer. Take the kids along and enjoy disco sessions with the in-house DJ, play ice hockey, have a go at figure skating or just socialise with friends. Dubai Ice Rink is endless fun for everyone, regardless of age.
ICEQUEEN Grand Cryo Wellness
If the idea of sitting in a steam room, sauna or jacuzzi when it’s 50 degrees outside fills you with dread or if you just fancy a beauty treatment with a difference then Cryotherapy may be the answer. Cryotherapy is a curative health treatment involving extremely low temperatures (-120°C to -160°C). Whilst this sounds scary, Cryotherapy has been known to deliver results for all over wellness and health, including anti-ageing and weight loss management.
Wild Wadi
Is there a better way to keep cool then splash around in a water park all day? I think not! Head to Wild Wadi and check out the adrenaline-fuelled rides or just float along the lazy river. Either way, you’ll keep nice and cool and have a great time. Just remember your suncream, hat and to drink lots of water.
Walk around the mall
Ok so I’m being sarcastic but seriously it’s so cold in the malls here in Dubai that it can feel like you’re in the arctic. A good excuse to flex that credit card, enjoy the fantastic indoor activities or countless restaurants and cafes the malls have to offer.
Snowman Mani/Pedi at Kozma and Kozma Salon
It’s August and snowing in Dubai! Well not literally but this is the next best thing! Although not in the ENTERTAINER this one had to make the list! Head to Kozma and Kozma, the fabulous new salon on Dubai’s block and chill out with their Snowman Mani or Pedi. Your hands or feet will be soaked in frosty “snow” to relieve your hot and tired hands or feet, followed by the usual filing, cutting, buffing and of course polishing. Don’t forget to have a go at building a little snowman of your own. This mani/pedi is a great way to beat the heat this summer!
