Unleash Your Spirit Animal

Colleen Paige, the Pet Lifestyle Expert, started National Wildlife Day in 2005 in memory of wildlife conservationist and crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin.

National Wildlife Day was a reminder to celebrate and admire the beauty around us. We’re so caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life that we can forget who (and what) we share our small planet with.

You can do your bit to support wildlife in your area, like:

1. Volunteer. If you don’t have money to give, donate your time. Most zoos and wildlife charities have volunteer programs.

2. Donate. Pay the recommended entry fee to zoos and conservation sites or donate to your nearest animal welfare charity.

3. Buy responsibly. By not purchasing products made from endangered animals.

4. Recycle. Find new ways to use things you already own.

5. Speak Up. Share your passion for wildlife with your family and get your friends involved.

6. Visit. Go along to your local zoo or spend the day at a wildlife sanctuary. Here are a few of our faves.

The International Centre for Birds of Prey – Gloucester
