1 | LEAVE CLUES
Instead of dropping a ton of eggs in every nook and cranny of the house, why not carefully hide a few, and then offer a trail of clues to help the kids find them? Put clues inside plastic eggs (are you also thinking fortune cookie vibes?), with each clue leading to the next egg. It combines the fun of an egg hunt with the thrill of a scavenger hunt. Add a time limit if you’re up for a screech-worthy morning. Yes, this will take time to prepare, but who are you kidding? It’s not like you don’t have all day err’day during lockdown to prepare.
2 | GET INTERACTIVE
Alongside the clues inside the plastic eggs, include tasks for the kids – like hopping like a bunny or singing a song while searching for the next egg. Just think how much fun that’ll be for you to watch (and how much time it will give you to drink your wine).
3 | GET CLEVER WITH HIDING SPOTS
We’re thinking along the lines of: in between books on the bookshelf, inside the dishwasher, in between all the wine bottles on the wine rack (they are not supposed to go there, right? lol), in the toothbrush holder, inside shoes. The list goes on. The trickier for them kids, the funnier for you (and again, more time).
4 | HUNT IN THE DARK
Close the curtains tight — or wait until nighttime to add that extra element of excitement – haul out the torches, glow-in-the-dark eggs, and glow sticks, and get ready for tons of squealing during this spooky egg hunt. They’re bound to love this one, but, of course, you need plenty of glow in the dark supplies.
5 | TURN THE TABLES
Finally, if you’re up for it, get involved. Once the kids have found all the eggs, have them turn it around on you. Close your eyes while they hide the eggs for you to find them. It’s a family weekend, and trust us when we say, the kids will love you for it.
