The heart of Dubai, Downtown Dubai is literally a playground for the big and small. There’s so much to do you could spend days just exploring. However, time is precious and planning is key to any great day out. And luckily for you, I’ve done the hard work for you and put together a list of the top things to do in Downtown Dubai (you can thank me in shoes and handbags).
Dubai Mall
Of course, you can’t go to Downtown Dubai without visiting the biggest mall in the world! With a whole host of activities, you could spend several days at Dubai Mall and still have things to do. Here are the main things you have to do on your visit!
Coffee
Dubai Mall is so big you’re going to need a big caffeine boost! Head to Gloria Jeans for a nice cup of coffee to power you through the rest of the day’s activities.
Shop
Get lost and flex that credit card in the countless amount of shops Dubai Mall has to offer. You will truly know the meaning of shop until you drop!
Sega Republic
If you’ve dragged your kids (or your man!) around the mall for several hours then the least you can do is treat them to a few hours at Sega Republic. A 76,000 sq ft park featuring 15 thrilling attractions and more than 170 games, from cutting-edge motion simulators and virtual experiences, Sega Republic is the stuff dreams are made of!
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo
You can’t help but be impressed by Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo. Seriously sharks in a mall. Just think about that for a minute. Pretty amazing hey! But don’t just stand on the sidelines, make sure you actually go into the aquarium and immerse yourself in a world of fantastic colours, spectacular animals, and glass-bottom boat rides. Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo provides an aquatic adventure you will never forget!
Dubai Ice Rink
Take the kids along and enjoy disco sessions with the in-house DJ, play ice hockey, have a go at figure skating or just socialise with friends. Dubai Ice Rink is endless fun for everyone!

Big Bus Tour
Head to the Big Bus Tour’s bus stop and jump aboard the big open-top red bus and discover all of the famous and fascinating landmarks Dubai has to offer. The best bit is you can hop on and off at any Big Bus stop of your choice, at your own leisure meaning you get to stop at the top sites for as long as you want.
Afternoon tea at Al Bayt
Is there anything more indulgent than an afternoon tea? I think not! Head along to Al Bayt The Palace for a leisurely afternoon tea where you’ll get to enjoy Arabian customs blended with royal English traditions and delights such as delectable finger sandwiches, clotted cream, pastries and much more. A real treat in every sense.
Lunch/Dinner
No trip to Downtown Dubai would be complete without a delicious lunch or dinner from one of the hundreds of restaurants available. If you fancy Pizza head to Pizzaro, if Jamaican takes your fancy then try the uber cool Ting Irie, or for the best Pan-Asian pop to Karma Kafe.
